Volunteer for Americans for UNESCO:

We need volunteers. We would like to find better ways to interest young people in UNESCO and involve them in its work, and would welcome volunteers to participate in that effort. We need help in fund raising. We could use help in communicating with the thousands of people on our mailing list. We would welcome in person or online volunteers.

Intern with Americans for UNESCO

We are interested in hosting graduate student interns. The Board of Directors, who together represent hundreds of years of experience in international development, with strong interests in UNESCO and its programatic areas, are willing to mentor interns. Our offices on the campus of George Washington University are conveniently located in downtown Washington DC. The National Capital Area Chapter of UNA-USA has encouraged AU interns to participate in their Graduate Fellows Program.

Participate in or form a UNESCO Club

There are some 4.000 UNESCO clubs in about 100 countries around the world. Their members, who are all volunteers, include people of all ages and nationalities from every walk of life, sharing a commitment to UNESCO’s ideals. UNESCO supports these clubs, and there is a World Federation of UNESCO Clubs (see also its online journal, Confluences), The U.S. National Commission to UNESCO is now attempting to help facilitate communication and compile a list of U.S.-based UNESCO related Clubs and Associations. Note also the Network of School Science and Technology Education Clubs Affiliated to UNESCO.

UNESCO Associated Schools

UNESCO’s Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet), commonly referred to as UNESCO Associated Schools, is a global network of some 7 900 educational institutions in 176 countries (ranging from pre-schools and primary to secondary schools and teacher training institutions), who work in support of quality education in practice. There are 30 schools involved in ASPnet/USA, and InterConnections 21 coordinates the U.S. Chapter of the UNESCO Associated Schools Project.

For more ways to participate, check out this UNESCO website which describes a wide range of UNESCO activities in the United States of America.
